Anontioni was a mid-century Italian neorealist, whose desparate dramas focused on characters suffering from ennui and malaise. And speaking of dead directors, Alfred Hitchcock was born on this day in 1899.

I had noticed earlier yesterday on IMDB that it was Alfred Hitchcock's birthday, so I just checked now to see if it was also the day he died. It appears that Hitchcock was born on August 13, 1899 but he died on April 29, 1980.
Sorry... silly mistake...
